A 23-year-old Mickey Mantle patrolled centerfield when what is now known to most participants as the baseball predictions — or just the game — was started by Nelson Slagle in 1955. Nelson handed it off to his brother Jim in 1976 after a five-year break. Jim handed it back to Nelson in 1980.
Gerry Hamilton took it over in 1981 and ran it until the end of the 2016 season.
My father and I have taken over the legacy. Both of us are moving back to the United States in 2017 after 23 years of living and working overseas. Our goal is to have the game completely automated — from prediction entry forms to generating the weekly standings — for the start of the 2018 season.
Until then, you can still access the full history on the original site maintained by Gerry for all those years.
