The following is a list of the keys to our performance in the 2002 game. The approximate value is the amount of points that each key effects our scores. For example, if you failed to pick the Yankees and RedSox first and second in the AL East (/b) then your score is 30 points higher than those that did pick New York and Boston 1st and 2nd. Picking Atlanta 1st in the NL East, valued at 38 points, is the most important key. More than half (94) of the players had Atlanta correct. Texas last in the AL West, valued at 42 points, Minnesota 1st in the AL Central valued at 27 points and Colorado and San Diego 4th or 5th in the NL West valued at 38 points are the most important keys. Fourty-one players had both Atlanta and Texas correct, including nineteen of the top twenty-one players.

This year's keys were complicated by the results in the AL East, where each team was separated by at least ten games, and the NL Central, where each team was sepated by at least five games. That made for a lot of different combinations. The Final Standings include a code for each key pick detailed at the player level.
